2 seconds of animation, 3 months to complete for Transformers 2

I came accross an interesting article on how only 2 seconds of animation and VFX for the Transformers 2 movie, took 3 months to complete… 90 days of hard work for only 2 seconds of the movie. Just goes to show how complex and tricky the world of visual effects and animation can become. WARNING! Possible spoilers to those who have not seen the movie.

Unrealistic Business Practices

Why is it that people sometimes try to bargain or low-ball you for your services? Have you endured this situation my fellow business colleagues (architects, artists, graphic designers, musicians, etc.)?

There is always someone out there that is in need of your services, and still has the audacity to ask you to lower the price for what they’re asking for…. it just sounds ridiculous!!! If you happen to fall into the “bargain-low-baller businessperson” category, please click on the link below, and see for yourself how foolish you sound when you suggest to get a “discount”.

Videographers Beware!

I got an e-mail today with the subject line “Enquiry”… typically this is a good sign of someone having a need for our services and they require more information from us. The e-mail looked promising but there was something about the message that raised some red flags. This is the exact wording of the e-mail:

“Hello, I write to enquire if you are free to handle the job of a videographer on 24th September to 26th September 2009 (3 days). Get back to me if you are free at the requested date and I will feed you with more information about this project, which will take place in your city.

Warren Dunphy
Tel: 0044 70457 85836″

So after reading the message a couple of times, I decided to google the name and phone number to see what sort of results would pop up. The first result was a forum with posts from its users regarding this exact e-mail. It turns out to be a scam, check out the forum here:

Anyhow, just wanted to let people know about this scam and beware if you receive it
